DIY Tips To Style Your Eyebrows

No, we won’t ask you to take a pencil and hold it vertically against the bridge of your nose and on top of your nostril to find the beginning of your eyebrows, or anything as complicated as that. We’re pretty sure you already tried that.

These are simple, easy-to-follow tips that you can do yourself, at home. They will make a world of difference to your eyebrows. And it’ll save you a trip to the salon as well!

  1. Leave those brows alone. Overplucking is a very real eyebrow crime. So much so that sometimes you don’t even know the natural shape of your eyebrows anymore. Leave your brows alone for 6-8 weeks to rediscover their natural shape, then take all your styling cues from there.

  1. Why pluck when you can snip? Trim your brows using scissors instead. But  snip only the long hairs. Brush your hair up with a spoolie and trim those long ones, one hair at a time.  Then brush the tail end of your brows towards the inner part of your brow and slightly trim those hairs too.

  1. Shade in your brows before shaping it. This will allow you to portion out the parts you want to keep. Run an eyebrow pencil along the outlines of your brow, tapering or widening it depending on the shape you want. Make sure you do it evenly on both brows.

  1. Do not use a magnifying mirror . This is actually one of the worst things you can do. They magnify everything and can mislead you to think you have more follicles than you do, which can lead to overplucking. Just use a regular mirror and always takes a step back to check the overall effect.

  1. Fill in the blanks. If there are some sparse spots on your eyebrows, use an eyebrow pencil to draw in some strands. Make sure the shade on your pencil matches the natural color of your brows. Also, draw in the direction of the hair growth. Then top it off with brow gel to give them a nice finish.

  1. Pain, pain, go away. After taking a hot shower, grab your tweezers and start plucking. The warm water opens up the hair follicles, making it easier to pluck. Or you can also massage your favorite facial oil on to your brows to lubricate both the skin and the hair follicle and prevent breakage.

  1. Good Luck with the pluck. You all set to do some actual tweezing? Never get trigger happy with your tweezers though. Make sure to tweeze hair in the direction of hair growth while holding your skin taut.  Pluck those strays beneath your brows, including your arch and towards the end of your tail.

There you have it, Neater, shapelier brows done by you, right at your own home! *pats self at the back.*
