HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR EYEBROWS TO GROW BACK?
Eyebrows are the window to the soul! They allow us to express ourselves and provide a frame for our beautiful faces. In fact, the woman with the most infamous bushy brows, Frida Kahlo, once said, "The most important part of the body is the brain. Of my face, I like the eyebrows and eyes. Aside from that, I like nothing. My head is too small.” It seems that everyone can be tough on themselves sometimes. Even famous, fearless painters bringing Mexican art and feminism to the global stage🤷🏻♀️

If you have experienced hair loss in your eyebrows due to any number of factors (over-plucking, over-waxing, or health issues), fear not. Your furry caterpillars will be growing back in no time! On average, the eyebrow hair growth cycle takes around 4 months to complete. Of course, there are many things that you can do to speed up this process, which we will discuss here.
From growth serums to beauty regimens to nutritious foods, there are tons of ways that you can accelerate your eyebrow hair growth. Whether you are looking to grow your brows back from scratch, or are just looking for a little more volume and personality for your brows, we’ve got you covered. Time for a brow transformation!
EYEBROWS CAN GROW BACK RIGHT?
Rest-assured, eyebrows do grow back most of the time! However, how fast your eyebrows grow back differs from person to person. A number of factors, such as overall health, age, and general eyebrow treatment go into the speed of this hair growth. That means taking care of yourself is the best way to ensure your brows grow back; take notes ladies!
Before we get into “how” we grow brows back, let’s talk about “why” we are experiencing thinning brows in the first place. To start off, many people have been over-tweezing and over-waxing their brows for years. The “trend” for thinner, finer brows has been around since the ’60s. Only in the last 10 years or so has the trend reversed in favor of thicker, “boy” brows.
Beyond this, there are a number of underlying issues and health reasons that could be causing those thinning brows including:
Tweezing and waxing:The skin around your eyebrows is thin and fragile, and constantly removing hair can traumatize the area. For those who pluck everyday, it’s time to give the tweezers a break! Or else it could lead to damage, scarring, and the possibility of stunting hair growth altogether.
Other skin trauma:This can include traumas such as cuts, burns, etc. that have caused damage to the eyebrow hair follicles. Your hair follicles have a huge number of sensitive nerve endings which, when continuously irritated, can hinder hair growth.
Your age:As we get older, our hair naturally begins to thin. Over time, some of your hair follicles stop producing hair and the hair shafts become finer.
Skin conditions:Healthy hair always comes from healthy skin. Unfortunately, there are a number of skin conditions that can impede eyebrow hair growth including eczema, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis. These conditions leave the skin around the eyebrows inflamed, dry, or itchy, and it eventually results in hair loss.
Medical conditions: Athyroid disease or imbalance of thyroid hormones are often linked to eyebrow hair loss. More specifically, hyperthyroidism, when the body creates too much thyroid hormone, and hypothyroidism, when the body does not produce enough thyroid hormone, are associated with this hair loss. Another medical issue that can explain thinning hair is Alopecia Areata.
Nutritional deficiencies:Food has more of an impact on our skin than many of us realize! Nutritional deficiencies such as fatty acid, biotin, or zinc deficiency have been known to cause eyebrow hair loss as well.
Chemotherapy:Many people also experience hair loss as a side effect of Chemotherapy. Just like the hair all over your body, eyebrow hair loss can begin gradually after starting chemo. The amount of eyebrow loss depends on the person and the chemotherapy treatment. Some people may lose all of their eyebrows, while some may only experience a thinning of the eyebrows.
Whatever your reason for hair loss is, there are many natural ways to grow back your eyebrows. Especially if you lost the hair due to chemotherapy, you will need a solution that is paraben-free. ForChics has a natural eyebrow growth serum that can accelerate the eyebrow growth cycle by weeks, sometimes months!
WHAT ARE THE STAGES OF EYEBROW GROWTH?
Time for a quick science lesson, ladies and gents! If you are wanting to accelerate the eyebrow hair growth cycle, you need to understand the process in the first place. There are 3 phases in this growth cycle. It is important to note that the eyebrow hair growth cycle takes much less time to complete than the scalp growth cycle.
Anagen phase, 4–7 months: The Anagen phase is the active growth phase where the roots of the hair are dividing rapidly, adding to the hair shaft. When the follicle finishes the Anagen phase, an unknown signal causes the follicle to move into the catagen phase. The eyebrow follicles are typically in the Anagen phase for 4-7 months.
Catagen phase, 3–4 weeks: The Catagen phase is a short transition phase where growth stops and follicles shrink. This process cuts the hair off from the blood supply and from the cells that produce new hair. The Catagen phase for eyebrow hair takes about 3-4 weeks to complete.
Telogen phase, about 9 months: The Telogen phase is the resting and shedding phase at the end of the Catagen phase, where older hairs will fall out to make room for new follicles. This phase lasts about 9 months for the eyebrows. It is important to note that your follicles can get stuck in the Telogen phase, due to the trauma of forcefully ripping them out with tweezers.
Hair length does depend on the duration of the Anagen phase. Eyebrows tend to grow faster than scalp hair and have a much shorter Anagen phase. Eyebrows grow between 0.14 mm to 0.16 mm per day.
Long story short, the time that it will take to grow your eyebrows back depends on a number of factors. Age, genetics, and hormonal balance are all factors that impact how fast your eyebrows grow back. Additionally, utilizing serums, oils and vitamins can accelerate the process greatly!
Furthermore, while utilizing these natural remedies it is also important to let your brows breathe! Stay away from the tweezers so your hair follicles are given the best chance to fully recover and begin growing again. For the girls who are afraid of the unruly look that may accompany a tweezer-break, we recommend trimming your brows to keep them looking shapely!
In addition to a brow-maintenance break, here are the top 4 things that you can do to accelerate hair growth:
Exfoliation is key, guys! Exfoliation is great for helping with hair growth on both your scalp and eyebrows. It helps with hair growth for a number of reasons:
It stimulates the follicle. The gentle massaging motion of exfoliation helps stimulate the hair follicle. The massage increases blood flow, which can bring inactive follicles back into the Anagen phase, or active growth cycle.
It provides nourishment. Exfoliating removes residue and buildup on the eyebrows, allowing the nutrients and moisturizers from your hair growth serums to penetrate the root. If you are using an eyebrow growth serum, it is recommended to exfoliate once a week, to allow all of the nutrients to reach the brow follicles.
It prevents hair loss. Exfoliation promotes a healthy hair growth cycle. It will help you hold on to the strands you already have, and make the existing hair appear thicker and fuller!
Shayne Rodriguez Thompson discusses how to make an all-natural hair exfoliation scrub on her blog, using only brown sugar and olive oil. If you are using ForChics ForBrow, we highly recommend that you couple this with a natural exfoliation scrub. Just don’t scrub too hard ;)
Castor Oil is great for hair growth for a number of reasons. For one, the main compound in castor oil is ricinoleic acid, which has been linked to hair regrowth. Additionally, Castor Oil is rich in omega-9 fatty acids, which keep the hair well moisturized and nourished, preventing breakage.
Castor Oil comes from the seeds of the castor bean plant. Since the beginning of time, it seems, this oil has been used for various hair and skincare problems. This ancient medicine is regarded as a highly valuable oil due to its many uses. Castor Oil can be colorless or very pale yellow in color with mild or no odor or taste. The oil is sticky to the touch, but it absorbs into the skin and hair quickly.
As castor oil is a natural humectant (an ingredient found in lotions and cleansers that hydrate the skin by attracting water molecules like a magnet), it deeply moisturizes the hair. That is why Castor Oil is great for keeping both hair and eyebrow hair looking shiny and healthy.
At ForChics, we know the benefits of Castor Oil inside and out. That is why our ForLash and ForBrow growth serums both contain premium Castor Oil to help #accelerate hair growth. Just like almost all problems in life, your eyebrow hair loss can be fixed by the right oil and some heavy moisturizing💁
Turns out your mom was right. You should be taking your vitamins! Certain vitamins, including the B vitamins and vitamins A, B, C, and D have been linked to hair growth. These can all be covered in a basic one-a-day vitamin, or with the right diet. Beyond the basic “alphabet” vitamins, there are a few other supplements that can help with hair growth:
Iron:Iron Deficiency Anemia is a common cause of hair loss that could also affect your brows. It is essential that you get enough iron in your diet if you want your eyebrows to grow faster. If you are vegan or vegetarian, it is especially important for you to take an iron supplement.
Biotin:Biotin is part of the Vitamin B family, but we wanted to write a whole separate section on this Vitamin SuperHero! Biotin has long been proven to help promote hair growth and prevent hair loss. Our bodies need biotin to help convert certain nutrients into energy. Biotin also plays an important role in the health of our hair, skin, and nails. If you aren’t getting enough biotin in your daily life, you may experience hair loss or a scaly red rash, according to Healthline.
At ForChics, we know how important Biotin is to hair growth. That is why we have included Biotin in our tried and true ForBrow growth serum. Some of our customers have seen results in as little as 3 weeks. Read more reviews here.
Beyond purchasing supplements, you can include certain foods in your diet to promote hair growth. You should focus on consuming foods with a lot of protein, iron, vitamin B, omega 3, biotin, and zinc. Dark leafy greens (such as spinach and kale) are great sources of the “alphabet vitamins” or Vitamins A, B, C, and D.
Additionally, meats and beans are excellent protein sources, which keep your hair follicles strong and shiny. For iron, you can eat foods like iron-fortified cereals, white beans, and spinach. And lastly, to increase your biotin-intake, you can eat foods like organ meats, nuts, and whole grains.
Some other fatty foods that can help promote hair growth include walnuts, olive oil, avocados, salmon, Fenugreek seeds, and almond oil.
As a general rule of thumb, eat your veggies and make sure to have a balanced diet! Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, or an omnivore, you can find the right diet that provides the nutrients and vitamins that your hair needs to grow quickly and healthily.

ADVICE FROM EXPERTS
While you’re implementing all of this new brow knowledge, there are some general practices advised by the experts to keep in mind along the way!
A number of experts, including makeup artist and brow specialist Bob Scott, warn against overdoing your eyebrow maintenance in general. The importance of letting your hair grow naturally without causing permanent damage to that skin or area is highly recommended.
It is also often suggested that we ditch those magnifying mirrors we all know and hate to look into for too long. This intensified and zoomed image often causes people to over-pluck and can result in permanent damage or trauma to those hair follicles.
Lastly, expert Kristie Streicher recommends keeping in mind that your eyebrows will never be perfectly symmetrical, and that we should all recognize and appreciate these differences. Learning to love yourself and your look just as you are is always most important!
Whether you suffer from over-tweezing, or just want thicker, fuller brows, with the right conditions and products, anything is possible. At ForChics, we wanted to create a product that combined several of the steps mentioned above to create a targeted, effective formula that promotes eyebrow growth! ForBrow is the natural way to get fuller, thicker brows in as little as 3 weeks. What’s even better? We are vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, and gluten-free! What’s not to love?
