We've all seen them—the sparse, over-plucked brows of the early 2000s, the super-thin, pencil-thin brows of the 2010s, and the bold, bushy brows of today.

Every few years, a new brow trend seems to emerge and take over the beauty world.

And while it's fun to experiment with different looks from time to time, there are some brow trends that you should avoid if you want to keep your brows looking gorgeous and healthy.

And since Black Friday is right around the corner, we thought we'd share a few brow "trends" you should steer clear of this holiday season (and beyond)!

1. Over-plucking

We all know the saying, "Less is more." But when it comes to plucking your eyebrows, that couldn't be further from the truth. When you over-pluck your brows, it takes them much longer to grow back. And in the meantime, you're left with sparse, patchy brows.

If you're trying to grow out your brows, resist the urge to pluck any stray hairs. Instead, use a brow pencil or powder to fill in any gaps. This will help to create the illusion of fuller brows until they grow back in.

2. Using the wrong products

Not all brow products are created equal. And using the wrong type of product for your brows can actually do more harm than good.

For instance, if you have dry or sensitive skin, you'll want to avoid any brow products that contain alcohol. Alcohol can aggravate the skin and cause brows to look dry and flaky.

Instead, choose brow products containing hydrating ingredients like glycerin or aloe vera. These ingredients will help to keep your brows looking healthy and moisturized.

3. DIY waxing/threading

Just because you can wax or thread your own brows doesn't mean you should. If you're not careful, it's very easy to over-pluck or remove too much hair when doing your own brows.

And as we mentioned before, over-plucking can damage your brows and make them take longer to grow back.

If you're not confident in your ability to do your own brows, it's best to leave it to the professionals. They can help you achieve the look you want without damaging your brows in the process.

4. Going too bold

Having bold, bushy brows is definitely on trend right now. But that doesn't mean you should go overboard with your brow product. Using too much product can make your brows look unnatural and even a bit clownish.

Instead of going bold with your brow products, start with a little and build up from there. This will help you achieve more natural-looking brows that don't appear overly done.

5. Skipping on brow serums

It's 2022. Brow care should be part of your skincare routine. By now, you've probably heard of face serums and how they can benefit your skin. But did you know that there are also brow serums?

Brow serums help nourish and condition your brows, keeping them healthy and lustrous. And just like face serums, they're packed with powerful ingredients that can help to improve the appearance of your brows over time.
